Data Protection Statement, Area of Application

This data protection statement clarifies for users the type, extent and purposes of the collection and use of person-specific data by the provider responsible, Vincentz Network GmbH & Co KG, Plathnerstr. 4c, D-30173 Hanover, on this website (hereinafter referred to as the “offer”).

The legal basis of data protection can be found in the German Data Protection Law (BDSG) and in the German Telemedia Act (TMG).

Access Data / Server Log Files

Vincentz Network GmbH & Co KG (hereinafter referred to as the provider) collects data (so-called server log files) on each access to the offer. The access data includes:

The name of the website called up, the file, date and time of the call-up, the data quantity transferred, announcement as to successful call-up, the type of browser and the version, the user’s operating system, the referrer URL (i.e. the page previously visited), the IP address and the enquiring provider.

The provider uses the protocol data only for statistical evaluation, for the purpose of operation, security and optimisation of the offer. The provider reserves the right, however, to check the protocol data subsequently if there are specific indications justifying suspicion of illegal use.

Handling of Person-Specific Data

Person-specific data is information with the help of which a person is determinable, i.e. details that can be traced back to a specific person. Such details include the name, e-mail address and telephone number. But data on preferences, hobbies, memberships and which websites someone has visited also constitutes person-specific data.

Person-specific data is only collected, used and passed on by the provider if this is legally permitted or if the user consents to it in the data acquisition.

Establishing Contact

For establishing contact with the provider (by contact form or by e-mail, for example), the user’s disclosures are stored for purposes of processing the enquiry and in case there are follow-up questions.

Integration of Services and the Contents of Third Parties

It may be the case that this online offer contains contents from third parties, such as YouTube videos, map material from Google Maps, RSS Feeds and graphics from other websites. This requires that the providers of these contents (hereinafter referred to as “third-party providers”) are also aware of the user’s IP address. Without the IP address, after all, you could not send the contents to the browser of the respective user. The IP address is therefore necessary for the presentation of these contents. We try to make use of only such contents the respective providers of which make use of the IP address solely for dispatch of the contents. We have no influence, however, if the third-party provider stores the IP address, e.g. for statistical purposes. To the extent that we are aware of this, we clarify the situation with the users.

Cookies

Cookies are small files that enable device-related information to be stored specifically on the user’s access device (PC, smart phone, etc.). They serve, on the one hand, to enhance the user-friendliness of websites and thereby also serve the users (e.g. storage of login data). They also serve to record statistical data on the use made of the website for analysis and improvement of the offer. Users can exert an influence on the use of the cookies. Most browsers have an option with which the storage of cookies can be limited or completely prevented. Attention is drawn here, however, to the fact that the use of the website, and in particular user comfort, is limited without cookies.

You can manage many online ad cookies from businesses via the USA pages http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ and the EU pages http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/.

Google

This offer makes use of Google Analytics, a web-analysis service from Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”, text files that are stored on the user’s computer and permit an analysis to be made of the use of the website. The information created by the cookies on the use made of this website is transmitted, as a rule, to a Google server in the USA and stored there. If the IP-anonymise function on this website is activated, however, the user’s IP address will first be shortened by Google, within the member countries of the European Union or in other contracting states that were party to the agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address sent to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The IP-anonymisation function is active on this website. At the order of the operator of this website, Google makes use of this information to evaluate the use of the website made by the users, to prepare reports on the website activities and to provide further website-utilisation and Internet-related services vis-à-vis the operator of the website.
The IP address transferred by your browser within the framework of Google Analytics is not brought together with other Google data. Users can prevent the storage of the cookies by adjusting their browser software settings appropriately. This offer, however, draws the users’ attention to the fact that they may not then be fully able to use all of the functions of this website. Users can also prevent the acquisition by Google of the data generated by the cookie, relating to their use of the website (incl. the IP address), as well as its processing by Google, in that they download and install the browser plug-in available under the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de. As an alternative to the browser add-on, or in the context of browsers on mobile devices, please click this link (https://www.google.de/settings/ads) to prevent future recording by Google Analytics within this website. In this case, an opt-out cookie will be placed on your device. If you delete your cookies, you must then click this link again.
Information on Google Remarketing. Google and third-party providers place advertisements on websites on the Internet. On the basis of previous visits by a user to this website, stored cookies are used for the placement of advertisements. Facebook

Our portals can contain social network programs (plug-ins). With respect to these, the following applies, given for Facebook as an example. These programs are operated solely by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (Facebook). Within the framework of our portal, the plug-ins are identified by the Facebook logo or by the addition “Like”. On visiting a website of our portals that contains such a plug-in, your browser makes a direct connection with the Facebook servers, as a result of which the content of the plug-in is transferred to your browser and is integrated by this in the website presented. In this way, the information that you have visited our website is passed on to Facebook. If, during the visit to our website, you are logged into your personal user account with Facebook, Facebook can allocate the website visit to this account. Through interaction with plug-ins, e.g. by clicking the Like button or by making a comment, the corresponding information is transferred directly to Facebook and stored there. If you want to prevent such transfers of data, you must log out of your Facebook account before visiting our website.
You can learn more about the purpose and extent of the data acquisition undertaken by Facebook, as well as the further processing and use of your data made there, and your related rights and setting options for protection of your private sphere, from the respective valid Facebook notes on data protection (currently available under: http://de-de.facebook.com/privacy/explanation.php).

Live Chat

This website optionally offers the use of Userlike, a live chat software from Devcores UG (with limited liability), Aachener Str. 53, D-50674 Cologne. The information on your use of live chat will be collected, stored and processed on the servers of Userlike in Germany. For further information, please see Userlike’s notes on data protection https://www.userlike.com/en/terms.

Revocation, Changes, Corrections and Updates

The user has the right, upon request, to be sent free information on the person-specific data about him/her that has been stored. The user also has the right to correction of incorrect data, to blockage or to deletion of his/her person-specific data, provided no statutory filing obligations prohibit this.
